Wednesday, April 20 is the last day to file a claim for monetary damages against Transocean for the Deepwater Horizon (DH) explosion. Recently, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and Attorney General Luther Strange released a public service announcement (PSA) about the deadline. A claim must be filed with the federal court in New Orleans. Victims can file a claim by approving a direct short form. A copy of the short form is available at www.AlabamaOilSpill.info or victims can call (800) 831-8814. A trial date has been set for February 2012 to determine whether Transocean and other companies can limit what they pay to claimants under maritime law. Transocean owns the DH, which exploded one year ago, killing 11 workers. The lawsuit is designed to allow individuals and companies, which suffered personal injury, loss of earnings, property damage and other economic losses from the catastrophic oil spill to participate in the lawsuit.
Our maritime lawyers realize that maritime work can be dangerous when companies cut corners on safety. That's why we've dedicated our time to putting out free information for workers.
