Cruise passenger medivaced by Coast Guard

The Coast Guard airlifted a female passenger from a cruise ship off the Virginia coast earlier this month. Watchkeepers took the call at 8:50 a.m. for a 59-year-old woman requiring immediate medical attention for an undisclosed condition. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and rescue crew along with a  C130 rescue team were deployed from Air Station Elizabeth City, NC, to the "Explorer of the Seas" which was located 230 miles out in the Atlantic. The woman and a nurse were transported to a Norfolk hospital. Her condition was unknown.
