California teacher admits he killed his wife on Carnival cruise

A Los Angeles, CA teacher pled guilty to the murder of his wife on a Carnival Cruise ship two years ago.

Robert McGill, 57, confessed to authorities that he killed Shirley McGill with his bare hands in the cabin's bathroom on July 14, 2009 following an argument they had after celebrating his 55th birthday ashore in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The San Diego County medical examiner's office had earlier ruled that his wife of five years had died from strangulation and blunt force trauma.

Shirley McGill, 55, had retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Robert McGill was charged with first-degree murder and faces the possibility of life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 8.

He has yet to give a motive, reports Cruise Ship Law Blog.com.
