Back misdiagnosis is not uncommon

Forty-two percent of back and other injury patients feel they’ve been victims of a medical misdiagnosis, according to a leading medical site. Even though many patients believe that medical malpractice is mostly related to surgical mistakes, the truth is that misdiagnosis, delayed or failed diagnosis are actually more prevalent allegations in medical lawsuits. In any event, these are all common examples of negligence which can lead to permanent disability, especially after the condition becomes so severe that it’s past the point of no return. Perhaps had the problem been dealt with appropriately by the care provider in the first case then it never would have deteriorated into a permanent disability. If you have a back injury, always seek at least a second opinion and request that diagnostic tests be repeated. You owe it to yourself to conduct your own due diligence and not just accept what the company doctor says at face value.
