Yesterday maritime law attorney Brian Beckcom appeared on Houston's Channel 39 KIAH-TV during a story about a crew member from the Maersk Alabama who is suing Maersk Line Limited and Waterman Steamship Corp. The suit alleges that Maersk and Waterman ignored requests to improve safety measures for vessels sailing the Somali coast. Mr. Beckcom appears 2 minutes and 7 seconds into the video discussing the Jones Act , which protects the rights of U.S. seamen like those on the Maersk Alabama.
