Attorney Brian Beckcom featured in A.P. article on rig explosion

Houston based attorney Brian Beckcom of the law firm Vujasinovic and Beckcom was interviewed by the Associated Press Friday about the Deepwater Horizon disaster. He has also spoken with the Wall Street Journal and did a 20 minute interview with KUT 90.5 FM in Austin, Texas.


Beckcom is sought out by the media not only because he is one of the most recognized Gulf Coast maritime attorneys but also because he has dealt first hand with Transocean Ltd., operator of the Deepwater Horizon. He has represented several Transocean workers in the past, including a young person on a platform that exploded six years ago that killed one person and injured several others off of Galveston.

“I’m calling for an investigation of Transocean’s safety record by an independent panel,” Beckcom said. “Relying on an in house investigation is just not good enough.”

The Deepwater Horizon exploded Tuesday night and sank Thursday, killing 11 crewmembers. It was located 52 miles southeast of Venice, Louisiana. The official cause of the explosion has not been determined.
