A Knee Injury may be Covered Under the Jones Act

If you work in the maritime industry, then you are probably aware of the Jones Act, a federal law that is designed to protect your rights. Did you know that you may be entitled to compensation if you suffered a knee injury at work?

An injury to your knee can be serious. It can have a lasting impact on your life including excruciating pain and affect your ability to perform at your job. A serious knee injury usually affects the ligaments and tendons that surround the knee joints, as well as damage the bones and cartilage that make up the joint.  Symptoms can include a popping sound, pain, redness, swelling, inflammation, visible deformity and an inability to bear weight on the injured knee.

Knee injuries can occur from slipping on the deck, falling down broken stairs and even through offshore accidents.

A major knee injury can affect your ability to work and may take a long time to recover from. If you have suffered a knee injury offshore you may be covered under the Jones Act and entitled to compensation that may include compensation to cover living expenses and medical treatment.

If you or someone you know has suffered a knee injury while working offshore, you should contact an experienced maritime accident attorney at the Law Offices of Vujasinovic & Beckcom P.L.L.C. at (713) 224-7800 or (877) 724-7800.
